        • The cat hesitated for the first time.
It is not allowed. Do you accept my help? Say no, and you shall never see me again. Say yes, and Nightshade and Diego will be standing before you.

          • Suddenly, thre was a rustling of bushes and the girl shoved her way into the clearing.
"Ged," She began- and stopped, and looked at the cat.
"Ah," she said very cooly with a tight face, "it's you. What are you doing here?"

(OOC: I've picked a name. Martina. just 'cause. Papercrane could mention it int he next post, to introduce me... )

            • The cat surveyed her coldly.
Martina. I suppose I'll have to do the introductions. Martina, Ged; Ged, my little sister. Now--Martina, keep out of this. More is at stake here than what you are used to dealing with.

              • Martina returned her gaze.
"Ah, sister mine, how strange I've missed you so little! Perhaps you would care to inform me how, exactly, you think you know what stakes I am used to dealing with? Also, I know Ged. He doesn't know you- so what, exactly, is your business here?" She was unaware of the way she was straightening, drawing herself up to her full height and unconsciously taking a stance she had not used in a long, long time. The air snapped with cold, touched with a hint of a deep, deep red.

(OO: want to know what this is all about? tough- but my name might give you a hint... )

OOT: skybluice, Sirius is under a sort of cloak--nobody can touch him except Nightshade because she is a dragon, sometimes, and put it on him.
It seems that this crew of fighters do not need the help of the Winter Fairies we will depart and bother you no more.
As for seeing under your cloak that is very easy for non-mortals to do for the laws that govern you are not the same for us.

*Ice arrives at the spot where Sirus is being hidden to find a unhappy Snow Fairy.*

Good luck mortals for you shall need it.

OOT: skybluice, the point was that even immortals--dragons deal with them all the time--couldn't take off the flame! It needs a sort of...password, you could call it. The mind of the flamer. And of course, that means a dragon. Don't worry about Sirius, Diego and I will collect him on our way back.
Don't go! We just don't need you to collect Sirius. If non-mortals could touch him, he'd be dead.
Thats fine you can take care of him your self.

Since we are of no help here we should not bother these people with our efforts.

                    • The cat sniffed.
Human wars...I could handle those in my sleep. Yes, I heard of your promotion from...what was it? Dwarf wars?
She smirked slightly, but then her gaze softened and she looked at Martina seriously.
And you may know Ged, but you do not have the power to call Nightshade and Diego back. Little sister, this is not your place. Only Ged can decide to bring them back or not.
                      Turning to Ged, she added,
Nightshade means well, but she does not know what Diego is. It is good that she did not try to bring him to her; she would probably have died of the effort. You need me. Either you trust me, or you lose Nightshade and Diego. This is not a threat, but you have no other option. No other with my powers would be willing to help you; it is an uncertain and very deadly task. It may kill me, but I have offered to do it. Do you accept?

                        • Martina snapped. She reached out an arm and spun her sister towards her.
"It is not your right to come in here and tell me what to do! My place is wherever I want it to be- are you denying my name?- and I am here to help- which is more than you are! You have to tell him what you want to do, theyhave to understand, or you have to tell them nothing at all. You cannot just come in and say 'trust me!" It's wrong! These people are disorganised. They're up against immortals. I know you have no intention of really helping them- so go away. And please refrain from displaying your ignorance of my powers?"

                          • The cat sighed.
Martina...I'm not trying to hurt you...but I know what I'm doing. Only I can help them. And you know the Rules--I'm not allowed to state my name or price until he decides. I hate it as much as you do. I want to help. You should know why, but I'm not allowed to say.

                            • "Oh, the Rules! Oh, my goodness, how could I have forgotten?" She said something foul-sounding in another language and went on, dropping the sarcasm. "Yes. The Rules. What you live by. But there are more important things than Rules!" She paused, and looked away.

"But I won't deny that there are some things you can do that I cannot- and they could be valuable. Understand me, though- I know the Rules as well as you do. I know what they mean. I don't trust them- and I don't trust you."

                              • Martina. You are not of Us. You should know something of Us, though--and you should know that when we break the Rules, we usually die. But...for you...I can bend the Rules. You know my name. Tell Ged.
She had had to gasp out the last two words; then she collapsed and lay crumpled on the grass.
